Fiona Forward: Q2 2023 Impact
While Denver experienced more rain than usual this spring, the Fiona Forward team brought the sunshine in Q2! From April to June, Fiona Forward donated 2,777 Dollars, 70 Hygiene Products, and 20 Service Hours to help address barriers to housing stability. While the front-line members were impacting their community, the Fiona Forward leadership committee was behind the scenes workshopping their Vision Tracker Organizer, Remote Employee structure, and even Volunteer Time Off policies!
In-Person Events in the Denver Community
From burrito rolling at The Gathering Place to lunch packing with Food For Thought, the Fiona Forward team spent this quarter fighting food insecurity. We also volunteered with Cafe 180, a nonprofit restaurant that provides free meals to people experiencing food insecurity, where we served 70 meals to community members. For an additional in-person opportunity, two lucky raffle winners (Cherry Durfee & Erica Hanger) were sent to Food For Thought’s Rock-A-Belly fundraiser where they spent the night bopping to 80s music and tracking down the organization’s very selfless, very charismatic founder Bob Bell.
Donations and In-Kind Giving
Digible Members filled the donation bins to the brim with hygiene products to equip people with dignified hygiene. The products were sent to Denver Human Services to be distributed throughout the community. Fiona Forward also made a monetary donation to The Gathering Place that will contribute to their facility operating costs (like speedy WiFi for members or office supplies for staff).
Denver Community Spotlight
This quarter’s partner shoutout goes to The Gathering Place, which offers low-barrier access to basic necessities and wrap-around care options to assist those living in poverty to a place of stability. Cortney Mabry, the big-hearted Associate Director of Grants and Partnerships, visited Digible to educate us on the mission of The Gathering Place and what barriers their clients face when looking for stable housing, which can include convoluted legal processes or a lack of affordable options.
Fiona Forward: What’s Next
Quarter 3 will be another chance to serve the community, donate to our partners and learn about housing instability with Fiona Forward. The team also hopes to present their finalized Vision Tracker Organizer and launch their brand new website page!
